The Core

The Next Iteration

As we move into 2019, United Solutions Company has begun to focus on reducing the physical footprint of the primary data center. United Solutions Networking Department will achieve these goals by leveraging “always on” cloud-based services and workloads. Our credit union clients can rely on the fact that their data and systems are secure with United Solutions and are readily available from anywhere. The solutions we provide are an easy to use platform in virtually any location.

United Solutions continues to position itself as a hybrid cloud solution. While we manage a majority of the workload in our primary data center, we are replicating real time to a backup data center. We are shifting workloads to pivot critical services to cloud-based applications. We’ve partnered with five critical service providers (Fiserv, Dell & EMC, Cisco, IBM, VMWare) to understand and evaluate the next iteration of our working technology set. The partnerships enable strategic growth to align United Solutions and client business needs with the evolving technology landscape.

The next iteration of our working technology set looks smaller, physically, than it does today. Everything is shrinking in size. Think of size and weight of a laptop in the 90’s… Now guess the size and weight of a Surface Book or iPad Pro. The same effect has taken place in the data center. In the data center world, we’ve evolved from traditional, to converged, and next to hyper-converged hybrid cloud. Not only can we leverage cloud-based services for what was traditionally provided on premise, but we can also shrink the physical footprint of a classic converged infrastructure with a hyper-converged platform to provide the same, likely better, end user experience.

Over the next two years, we intend to reduce our footprint in the primary data center by appropriating real time workloads in both data centers and leveraging existing cloud-based subscriptions for “always on” services like Office 365, Cisco Meraki MDM, Duo, and Cisco Umbrella Insights. Moving to a hyper-converged platform allows a shift to less complexity. The obvious benefit is a significant reduction in space, power and cooling expenses. Operationally, we reduced complexity and time to delivery by streamlining service providers, user interfaces, baseline configurations, and enabling self-service.

At United Solutions, we strive to create a team that uses technology in innovative ways to deliver business value. The initiatives at United Solutions focus around repeatable processes, baseline configurations, and enabling self-service for our clients. With every initiative our considerations are cost, functionality, end users experience, integration, and security. The factors are important to our business and our client’s needs. By creating competitive advantage. Optimizing business processes, enabling growth, and improving relationships, we tailor custom technology solutions to our client’s business needs.
